African Explorer compartment categories
Elephant category: Each compartment is about 7 m² and has a private bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin. You can choose between a double bed (crosswise: approx. 189 x 160 cm; lengthwise: approx. 189 x 189 cm) or two single beds (each approx. 189 x 75 cm). A wardrobe with hangers also helps keep things tidy during the journey.

Leopard category: At around 10 m², these generous compartments offer plenty of space and comfort. You can choose between a double bed (crosswise: approx. 189 x 160 cm; lengthwise: approx. 189 x 189 cm) or two single beds (each approx. 189 x 75 cm). As well as a private bathroom, the Leopard suites have a cosy seating area that invites you to relax. Another advantage is the carriages' preferred position in the train, which means a shorter walk to the restaurant.

African Explorer facilities
Restaurants: The African Explorer has two air-conditioned dining cars serving African and European dishes. A 3-course menu is served at dinner.

Bars: In the bar car you can enjoy drinks such as beer and South African red wine. The tour guides also give regular talks on board here.

Lounges: The African Explorer has a stylishly furnished lounge with comfortable seating, leaving plenty of room to relax and chat. Its large panoramic windows give guests an uninterrupted view of the passing scenery. At the rear of the train there is an observation platform open to the outside.
